Job Summary
The FDAS Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and programming of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS). The role ensures that all fire alarm systems are functioning properly and comply with the Fire Code of the Philippines, applicable safety standards, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, wire, and terminate FDAS devices, including smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual pull stations, alarm bells, horn strobes, and fire alarm control panels.
- Configure and program fire alarm control panels and addressable devices.
- Conduct system testing, commissioning, and functional verification before turnover.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections of FDAS equipment.
- Diagnose and repair faults in fire alarm systems, wiring, and related components.
- Respond promptly to system alarms, faults, and emergency service calls.
- Read and interpret electrical plans, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Prepare maintenance reports, inspection checklists, and service documentation.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and clients during installation, testing, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with the Fire Code of the Philippines, NFPA standards, and company safety procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and spare parts required for field service.
- Conduct user orientation on the proper operation of the fire alarm system when necessary.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a Technical/Vocational course or Associate's Degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in FDAS installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledgeable in fire alarm systems, electrical wiring, and low-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with FDAS brands such as Notifier, Simplex, Bosch, Honeywell, Siemens, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Willing to perform fieldwork and travel to project sites when required.
- Physically fit and able to work at heights when necessary.
- Possession of an NC II or FDAS-related training certificate is an advantage.
