Boiler Utility Operator

Job Summary

The Boiler Utility Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of boiler systems and other utility equipment to ensure a continuous supply of steam and utilities for plant operations. The role includes conducting routine inspections, performing preventive maintenance, monitoring operating parameters, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor boiler systems to ensure a continuous and efficient steam supply for plant operations.
• Start up, shut down, and adjust boiler operations according to production requirements and standard operating procedures.
• Monitor boiler pressure, temperature, water levels, fuel consumption, and other operating parameters.
• Perform routine inspections of boilers, pumps, valves, piping, water treatment systems, air compressors, and other utility equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and perform minor repairs on utility equipment as assigned.
• Maintain proper boiler water treatment and monitor water quality to prevent scaling and corrosion.
• Record operating data, meter readings, equipment performance, and maintenance activities in logbooks or monitoring systems.
• Identify equipment abnormalities and immediately report or troubleshoot operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies, environmental regulations, and boiler operating procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in the boiler and utility areas.
• Assist during equipment shutdowns, preventive maintenance activities, and plant emergencies.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance and Production departments to ensure uninterrupted utility services.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Technical/Vocational course in Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field. College level or graduate is an advantage.
• At least 1–2 years of experience in boiler operation, utilities, or industrial plant operations.
• Knowledge of boiler systems, water treatment, pumps, compressors, and related utility equipment.
• Holder of a Boiler Operator Certificate issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is an advantage or may be required depending on the boiler classification.
• Ability to read gauges, operating manuals, and technical diagrams.
• Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
• Physically fit and capable of working in hot and industrial environments.
