Empowering the Cooperative: Inside the Output-Based Engagement Training

August 28, 2026 — As our cooperative continues to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing demands of the industry, moving from traditional manpower deployment to proactive operational management is more critical than ever. On August 28, team members from various departments—including MDG, HRAD, Contracting, Procurement, and BD & Marketing—gathered for a highly anticipated deep-dive into the Output-Based Engagement Framework.

The comprehensive training session broke down the core mechanics of transitioning from a headcount-based operation to an output-based model, highlighting a future where we "pay for results, not just for time spent."

What We Covered

The day was packed with transformative insights divided into four key modules:

  1. The Paradigm Shift: We explored why the market is shifting towards solution-based services. The output-based model promises incredible benefits across the board: better work-life balance and incentives for our members, fixed cost structures and higher productivity for clients, and proactive workforce development for the cooperative.
  2. Industrial Engineering Methodologies: A technical deep-dive into Process Mapping, Time & Motion Studies, Work Sampling, and Line Balancing. We learned exactly how to optimize operations, using a fascinating case study on Banana Toll Manufacturing.
  3. Financial Framework & Risk Management: The highlight here was the 3-Win State—a financial modeling approach ensuring that the Client, the Cooperative, and the Members all come out on top. We demystified variable vs. fixed costs and risk mitigation strategies.
  4. Transition & Go-Live: A roadmap for success, detailing how to pilot implementations, monitor KPIs, and refine incentive schemes post go-live.

Participant Voices & Feedback

The response to the training was overwhelmingly positive, earning an impressive 4.9 out of 5 for presenter engagement and a 4.8 out of 5 for materials!

Here is what some of our colleagues had to say about their biggest takeaways:

"Output Based Engagement is the most objective and fair basis for performance appraisal and compensation determination." — Ivan Navarrete (MDG)

"Pay for results, not just for time spent." — Glenn Remoreras (APCons)

"It provides the flexibility for the three involved sectors. Making the operations more efficient and effective." — Kristine Cassandra Mansal (BD and Marketing Department)

"The transition from the traditional deployment of manpower to an Output-Based is very crucial... you must also take into consideration the historical data to validate the current situation and [ensure] that the target is realistic and attainable." — Jeremie Santiago Perlawan (Contracting Group)

Looking Ahead to the 3-Win State

Perhaps the biggest misconception debunked during the session was that an output-based toll would result in a loss of jobs. Instead, the data proved the exact opposite: it paves the way for higher output capability, lower processing hours, and financial incentives for high performers.

As we look to the future, the integration of Industrial Engineering methodologies with our daily operations transforms our cooperative into true operational partners for our clients.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and actively participated. Let’s carry this momentum forward and engineer workflows that build a better, more efficient future for all!
